This is an exciting opportunity for an exceptional and experienced midwife, experienced academic and outstanding practitioner to join the midwifery team in delivering the pre-registration midwifery programme.
The post holder will be expected to teach and lead agreed modules, assess students, supervise undergraduate research studies, engage in curriculum development, participate in scholarly activity and contribute to the administrative work of the Unit and Institute.
Staff within the academic unit contribute to the NMC approved undergraduate degree and it is essential that the appointee is able to adopt a flexible approach to the subjects they teach. Candidates are encouraged to highlight their specialist areas of education and practice and how they intend to further this through scholarship and research reflecting national agendas and policy initiatives.
The new BSc Midwifery programme utilises an enquiry based learning model and seeks to develop critical, competent and compassionate practitioners who can make a positive contribution and impact to midwifery practice. The Institute works in collaboration with trust partners who support curriculum design and delivery to ensure future practitioners are fit for purpose. The Institute is committed to interprofessional learning and engagement of service users in the curriculum. The University of Worcester has a strategic partnership with the National Childbirth Trust and is committed to developing a unique portfolio of courses in relation to the prenatal, antenatal, perinatal and parenting agenda and there will be opportunities for the post holder to develop close links and shared initiatives with colleagues in the NCT as well as furthering our CPD course portfolio.
