We are seeking to appoint an ambitious, enterprising and forward thinking academic leader for our nursing provision. You will join an existing Principal Lecturer providing operational and strategic leadership for our extensive nursing portfolio, comprising undergraduate and postgraduate pre-registration nursing in all 4 fields, Registered Nurse Degree and Nursing Associate apprenticeships; Assistant Healthcare Practitioner apprenticeship, Return to Practice (nursing); Community Specialist Practice District Nursing (including District Nurse apprenticeship) and Community Learning Disability Nursing.

As an expert with a proven track record in leading the development and delivery of nursing apprenticeship programmes, you will work closely with the Institute Senior Leadership Team to operationalise our strategic objectives and deliver an excellent student experience.

As a Principal Lecturer within the Institute of Health, you will join a committed and motivated team of senior academics. You will hold current, active nursing registration with the NMC and will be able to evidence skills of leading individuals and teams alongside experience of apprenticeship programme leadership, curriculum design and development. You will also have a good understanding of the regulatory standards and requirements for NMC regulated programmes and apprenticeships.

Working in partnership with local NHS trusts, health and social care providers, service users and carers; the Institute of Health provides initial pre-registration education for a broad range of health care professionals, including occupational therapy, diagnostic radiography, sports rehabilitation and coaching, midwifery, physiotherapy, social work, children and families, psychology, paramedic, counselling, CBT, all four fields of nursing, assistant practitioner and nursing associate. Our well established portfolio of continuing professional development is key to workforce development and up-skilling of staff who are employed within the sector. Our aim is to support the skills requirements of the region, by attracting and retaining health professionals who will provide high quality, evidence-based care in a time of change in health and social care.

This role involves travel to our campuses in Cumbria and North Lancashire and to our partners across the region.
