We are looking to appoint a Head of Department of Nursing, Health and Wellbeing in the School of Health and Social Work to join one of the most exciting and innovative universities in the country. Reporting to the Dean, you will join a dynamic Senior Executive Team, committed to developing excellence, confidence and success in teaching, learning and research.

The School delivers a diverse portfolio of courses in diagnostic radiography, radiotherapy, nursing (adult, child, learning disability and mental health), midwifery, paramedic science, physiotherapy and social work. Research is conducted in all disciplines, with a strength of Internationally renowned research in the Centre for Research in Public Health and Community Care (CRIPACC). Our portfolio is, designed to support the needs and enhancement of local, national and international health and social care provision. The School is proud of our established practice of co-production with service users and students in curricula and research design and delivery.

The Head of Department is one of strategic leadership with a focus on supporting the teaching and learning, research, student experience and income generation ensuring the success of the department and School.
You will be a dynamic individual demonstrating success in academic leadership at a senior level in Higher Education (HE), a track record of managing large teams, excellent interpersonal skills and working knowledge of key drivers in health and social care. You will share our values of transforming lives and recognising that people are at the heart of what we do.

You will have a postgraduate qualification at Master’s level, hold or be working towards a Doctorate, knowledge and expertise within a discipline represented in the School’s portfolio and registration with a UK Professional, Statutory and Regulatory Body (PSRB). You will also be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the key strategic goals of the University. Please refer to the application pack and person specification for further details.
