The University of Bedfordshire, Faculty of Health and Social Sciences is seeking to appoint an external examiner to the Nursing Associate Foundation Degree course.
This is a full-time course which extends over a period of two academic years and is for direct entry students and apprentices. It adopts a work-integrated approach to learning which facilitates the application of theoretical learning within the workplace. Students and/or apprentices attend university one day a week and engage in work-based learning activities in a healthcare practice setting for the remainder of the time. The course runs yearly with approximately 35-40 students and/or apprentices in each intake.
We are keen to recruit someone who has either expertise in work-based learning or experience of delivering such a course. Whilst external examiner experience is desirable, we also welcome expressions of interest from individuals new to this role. The successful candidate will be offered an induction programme and will be supported throughout the duration of their tenure.
You will be asked to attend approximately 3 academic boards per year. You will also be invited to observe practical assessments (such as OSCEs) and visit students within practice areas. The specific remit includes review of units at academic levels 4 and 5 contributing to the above award
The term of office for the successful candidate will be for a period of 4 years from February 2020.
Please note that all External Examiner appointments are subject to approval by the University’s External Examiner Committee.
