The Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, at Northumbria University, are seeking to appoint an external examiner for our MRes Healthcare Professional Practice Programme.

A new programme, commencing January 2020, the MRes is open to registered health care professionals. As a part time 2- year course the MRes will offer flexible learning using innovative teaching approaches and assessment strategies. The programme is designed to develop advanced research skills and techniques that the student will put into practice for an individual piece of research in the final year.

We are looking for someone with:

• Relevant academic and/or professional qualifications to at least the level of the qualification being externally examined

• Previous experience as an external examiner is strongly preferred

• Familiarity with the standard expected of students to achieve the award that is to be examined.

• Sufficient standing, credibility and breadth of experience within the subject to be able to command the respect of academic peers

You will be required to view a selection of scripts/videos for designated modules and complete a module external examiner report for each set of assignments reviewed. The majority of assessments can be reviewed remotely via our electronic learning platform. The Exam board will meet once a year, an annual report is required.

The appointment will take effect from January 2020 for a four-year tenure.
