External Examiner – MMedSci General Practice Advanced Nurse Practitioner

The School of Nursing and midwifery is seeking to appoint an external examiner to oversee a programme to develop nurses for advanced practice in primary care and community settings.

The programme is part time over three years. It aims to develop expert generalists who are able to work effectively within a skill mix team to provide responsive and person centred primary care. The programme includes:

  • Evidence based practice
  • Consultation and person-centred primary care
  • Advanced clinical assessment
  • Nurse independent prescribing
  • Complex needs and primary care development
  • Mentorship in primary care
  • Management of long term conditions in primary care
  • Dissertation reporting on a project to develop primary care practice

The appointment would be for a period of four years from September 2019. Examiners would be expected to:

  • Comment on/contribute to programme development
  • Review, approve and provide feedback on student assessment procedures and QA
  • Attend relevant examinations boards/Boards of Study
  • Provide an annual report
