External Examiner – BSc(Hons) Public Health

We are seeking a replacement external examiner for the next academic year (2019/20) for the BSc (Hons) Public Health. The University of Brighton offers extensive support for external examiners and holds workshops annually. Further support is also provided by the course lead and the Community Programme Academic lead. The University normally expects external examiners to attend a minimum of one examination board per year.

Applicants are advised that the University applies the following criteria to external examiners:

  • The area of expertise of external examiners is within the area of examinations undertaken;
  • Applicants should have recently been employed (or are still employed) within a university appointment;
  • He/she must not have been a University of Brighton examiner within the last five years;

One External Examiner is required. Responsibility would include the following:

Introduction to Public Health Ethics, Policy and Service Delivery (level 4)
Introduction to Research and Project Methods (level 4)
Introduction to Health Needs Assessment (level 4)

Epidemiology and Research Methods (level 5)
Population Surveillance and Assessment Methods (level 5)
Health Protection (level 5)
Enabling Behavioural Change (level 5)
Community Engagement for Public Health (Placement Module) (level 5)
Global Health (level 5)

Health Promotion for Public Health (level 6)
Community and Public Health Engagement (Placement Module) (level 6)
Dissertation for Public Health (level 6)

Commencement date September 2019 for a period of 4 years
