The Faculty of Life Sciences and Education is seeking to appoint a ‘Course External Examiner’ for an established pre-registration Bachelor of Nursing (Child Health) programme. The external examiner must be a NMC registrant with a children’s nursing qualification and be in full compliance with NMC revalidation requirements.

The External Examiner is expected to monitor the quality of assessments / professional practice across the programme and is invited to attend at least one Assessment Board per academic session to consider student work and contribute to the overall assessment process. The successful applicant will be required to forward a report at each module board for the theoretical and practice elements of the course and to meet with students and examine a sample of practice assessment documents to ensure all NMC proficiencies/competencies for the programme are complete at least once a year.

An annual report is required as part of the University of South Wales’ quality assurance mechanisms. The post is for an initial period of 4 years, starting with effect from 01/09/2019.

We would openly accept applications from academics that are new to the role of External Examiner, and if appointed we would assign a mentor from one of our currently serving External Examiners.
