The Department of Health Sciences is a large and multidisciplinary department, offering a broad range of educational programmes in the health and social care field. We are seeking to appoint replacement external examiners for the following programmes:

Pre-registration Nursing:
PR1 Adult Nursing
and Extended Degree Introductory Year at York College

PR2 Adult Nursing
and Mentor Preparation Programme

Midwifery:
MW1 BA Midwifery Practice
and BA/DipHE Health & Social Care Practice (Applied Midwifery Practice)
Programme Leader: Cathryn Britton (cathryn.britton@york.ac.uk)

External examiners are required to review and evaluate assessment marking; be a member of, and attend, Board of Examiners meetings; comment and give advice on programme content, balance and structure; engage with students in practice; and to complete an annual report as part of the University of York’s quality assurance mechanisms. The University requires external examiners to attend a minimum of one examination board per year.

All appointments are subject to meeting the University’s criteria for the appointment of external examiners.

Successful applicants would be appointed with effect from October 2014 for a term of four academic years, and would join a supportive team of 17 external examiners.
