The Hull York Medical School (HYMS) invites applications for the clinical academic position of Senior Lecturer in Medical Education/Phase II Academic Lead MB BS. This is an exciting role which should appeal to applicants with a strong established educational profile, who are seeking to continue to develop as a leader in undergraduate medical education.

HYMS is based in the two well-established universities of Hull and York and offers an innovative, contemporary medical education programme that produces very high quality doctors who are also equipped to be the professional and academic leaders of the future. The Phase Leads for each Phase of the HYMS undergraduate MB BS curriculum are central to the effective leadership and co-ordination of the undergraduate curriculum. Each Phase Lead maintains overall responsibility for curriculum design, development, delivery, assessment and evaluation within their Phase.

The substantive and ongoing post will be as Senior Lecturer in Medical Education with a three year fixed term appointment as Phase II Lead, with the option to renew. HYMS has recently undergone a curriculum renewal of Phase II of its programme with the full implementation during 2018/19. The post holder will be responsible for the final development and delivery of this renewal and the immediate evaluation of its implementation.

You will be an experienced clinician with full GMC registration with five or more years’ experience as a qualified practitioner. You should be fully conversant with the requirements of the HYMS MB BS curriculum and an experienced educator.

The post will be 0.6 FTE with an expectation that your clinical commitments will be taken up to 0.4 FTE in addition.
