The School of Health Care and Social Work is pleased to invite applications for an Associate Professor in Paramedic Science to lead the exciting development of a suite of paramedicine programmes from September 2021. This marks an exciting opportunity for the University to establish our paramedicine portfolio to support the workforce development and priorities for the NHS and healthcare sector. These new programmes complement our existing health and social care portfolio that includes nursing, social work, ODP, physician associate, and post-qualifying specialist community nursing courses. The University is also establishing new physiotherapy provision in September 2021. Paramedicine will become a vital area within our newly established Institute of Health and Social Care to support the region’s healthcare priorities.

We have state-of-the-art healthcare simulation suites across our three campuses. We also have a superb Human Performance Laboratory which includes a 3D motion capture system, physiology, biomechanics, and psychology facilities. The High Wycombe campus includes a modern, fully equipped Sport and Wellbeing Clinic.

The Associate Professor Paramedic Science will be a key role to lead the strategic planning, development, and delivery of paramedicine. The successful candidate will lead on gaining successful HCPC approval, build placement networks, and support the staff recruitment process to build the programme team. The postholder will work collaboratively with our key healthcare trusts and partner ambulance trusts, and be an ambassador for the University. The postholder will have appropriate level of experience in paramedic practice and healthcare delivery.

Applicants: We are seeking to appoint an experienced academic/healthcare professional with experience of developing and validating pre-registration paramedicine programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Applicants should hold full professional HCPC registration.

You will be committed to achieving excellent student outcomes, have demonstrable ability to lead a team and display excellent communication skills.
