In the latest Research Assessment Exercise, Nottingham is ranked seventh overall in the UK in terms of research power (fifth for midwifery research). In the Complete University’s Guide University Subject Tables for 2014 the School ranked 2nd out of 72 for Nursing. School governance is managed through a series of committees with the School Executive being the key decision-making body. Within the Academic Division of Midwifery we offer pre-registration shortened and three year degree programmes, post-registration degrees and a range of continuing professional development modules for midwives.

The School is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced educator to develop pre-registration curricula that is research led, value based and innovative in both design and delivery. The Associate Professor will provide leadership in the strategic development, implementation and evaluation of all aspects of pre-registration midwifery programmes and lead on developing internationalisation within the Division. The post holder will be expected to work closely with the Head of Midwifery Education to deliver excellence in midwifery education.

The successful candidate must have a Masters degree (or equivalent) in a relevant area, be a practising midwife with a recordable qualification as a midwife teacher and be eligible to fulfil the role of Lead Midwife for Education. A Doctorate is not essential but we would expect the candidate to have a credible publication record.
