The School of Health Sciences, within the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, at the University of Nottingham is seeking to appoint two External Examiners for the adult field within our Nursing programmes.

2. External examiner responsibilities, regulations and requirements:

a) Responsibilities:
External examiner responsibilities include external moderation of assessments, completion of an annual monitoring report and attendance at Examination boards (at least one per year). The School uses an electronic marking system. External examiners are required to make use of the system during the external moderation process.

b) Criteria and restrictions for the appointment of external examiners:

All appointments are subject to candidate(s) meeting the University’s criteria for appointment.

c) Requirements:
Applicants should the hold appropriate academic qualifications, including, a teaching qualification (minimum of PGCHE or equivalent) and a Masters or higher level qualification in the relevant field. Please be aware that the NMC requires external examiners for Nursing and Midwifery programmes to possess current registration on the appropriate part of the NMC Register.

It is preferable to have previous experience of external examining although support and guidance can be supplied for those new to this role. Please note where required the University will fund successful applicants to undertake the External Personal Development for External Examiners qualification delivered by the Advance HE.

The appointment will start immediately and will be for a period of four years.
