The Faculty of Health Studies at the University of Bradford is looking for a dedicated individual to undertake the role of external examiner for its PG Certificate Gynaecology for Practitioners with a Special Interest and the PGC Diagnostic Hysteroscopy and Therapeutic Management programmes. The PG Certificate Gynaecology for Practitioners with a Special Interest programme is co-ordinated by the School of Nursing and Healthcare Leadership and is validated programme delivered by a local partner organisation. The PGC Diagnostic Hysteroscopy and Therapeutic Management programme is a programme delivered by the School of Allied Health Professions and Midwifery and welcomes 2 intakes of student per year. The successful candidate must be able to commence the appointment immediately. The fee for this role is £520 per annum.
An overview of your role and responsibilities includes:
Confirming the comparability of standards of learner performance at the University of Bradford with those of similar modules at other UK Institutions of Higher Education; confirming that the assessment process in its entirety is sound and has been fairly conducted with full regard to justice to learners; reporting and advising on the above by means of approving coursework and examination papers and providing an annual report to the University.
The appointee will be required to moderate a sample of work and you will also be required to produce an annual report and attend Assessment Committees and Boards of Examiners meetings.
These meetings are conducted remotely via MS Teams.
You should have appropriate expertise/experience in the areas of gynaecology and hysteroscopy with both experience in a clinical role and academia in an educational setting. The successful candidate will hold a current NMC registration, GMC registration or other regulator/ professional body registration. The applicant should have an interest in postgraduate education and development. The successful candidate will be able to undertake a role in the assurance of academic standards in Higher Education and should be aware of modern developments in the design and delivery of a postgraduate curriculum.
You should not hold more than one other UK Higher Education External Examiner post at the start of the contract and be qualified to at least the level of the programme to be examined.
External Examiners’ fees for taught programmes are calculated according to a formula that takes into account both programme and module responsibilities, the fee for this appointment is £520 per annum based on current curriculum and student/ learner numbers.
