‘The University of South Wales is seeking to appoint an External Examiner to maintain oversight of the academic standards and quality processes of curriculum delivered by Learna. Learna provision is delivered online, as part of a formal partnership with USW. It is therefore expected that the successful candidate will have experience in both partnerships and online delivery, as well as requisite experience and qualifications for both the level of study and subject specialism aligned with medicine/bio-science.
The appointment will commence during this forthcoming academic year for a tenure period of four years. All External Examiner appointments are subject to approval by the University Academic Board, therefore you must not have had any formal links with the University of South Wales (or its partner institutions) within the last five years.
Role Requirements:
- Attend a pre-allocated Progression and Award examination board to provide an oral report, and submit an annual report within four weeks of the boards taking place;
- Provide informative comment and recommendations on whether the assessment process is conducted in line with the relevant policies and regulations;
- To undertake training, as required;
- To potentially mentor new External Examiners, as requested.
The annual fee of £650 will be processed upon receipt of the satisfactory annual report and confirmation of attendance to relevant Boards.
