The School of Health and Society is looking to appoint an exceptional candidate to the role of Professor of Nursing.

Nursing plays a significant role within our School, and there is a wealth of experience and expertise to provide a secure foundation for further development in research and innovation. We are therefore seeking an established nurse academic who will lead the expansion of research and innovation in the Directorate of Nursing and Midwifery, the School and the University. The successful candidate will have a commitment to collaborative working, staff development and have an engaging leadership style. The post-holder will provide key academic leadership within the Directorate and the School, working with established Professors within the School and the University.

As a Professor of Nursing you will be supported to advance your own career whilst playing a pivotal role in enhancing our research, innovation and entrepreneurial culture. You will develop plans and deliver objectives that align with the School’s innovation strategy. As an established academic leader, you will develop and sustain a reputation, for yourself and colleagues, for high quality health, public health and/or social care research, working with relevant stakeholders locally, nationally and globally.

The post holder must be a Registered Nurse. Applications from candidates from any area of nursing are welcome. You will have an engaging research and innovation agenda that reflects the opportunities and challenges of contemporary and future nursing/interdisciplinary practice. Whilst we are open in terms of research focus, we would be particularly interested in candidates with expertise in older people, dementia, mental health, children and young people, integrated care and service development. For the right candidate, we would be open to supporting the development of a dedicated research group, which they would lead.
