We are looking to appoint an experienced health care practitioner currently working with children and/or young people, who can deliver inspirational teaching and drive curriculum development within the Advanced Clinical Practice and CPD programmes.
We are encouraging applications for this role from practitioners with a master’s degree and professional registration as a Children’s Nurse or Allied Health Professional in a CYP role (NMC, HCPC), and can offer full time or part time (minimum 0.6WTE) for successful candidates who want to continue working in a clinical role alongside developing an academic role.
The successful candidate will join a multi-professional academic team within the Department of Midwifery and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and will have an opportunity to shape the future digital approaches of post-graduate education, whilst working collaboratively with colleagues across the School and the wider University.
The post holder will teach multi-professional student cohorts across the CPD portfolio (depending on their clinical expertise) such as: the MSc Advanced Clinical Practice (ACP), L7 Apprenticeship in ACP, Independent and Supplementary Prescribing, MSc Midwifery and PG Cert in General Practice Nursing programmes; CPD workshops (such as Assessment, Minor Illness/Injury in Children and Young People). In collaboration with the CPD team they will develop digital learning strategies; lead agreed modules; assess students and supervise students’ MSc research projects. The post holder will be committed to promoting digital capabilities; academic enquiry that develops critical thinking in students; supporting safe, effective and evidence-based decision making, whilst developing expertise that supports existing and more established roles in health and social care settings.
Individuals applying for the SL (standard academic contract) will ideally have or will be currently undertaking a PhD or Professional Doctorate and will actively engage in research, professional practice and scholarship in ways that contribute to the University / School’s objectives, developing skills and knowledge in areas such as doctoral supervision, income generation, research impact generation, public and patient engagement and knowledge exchange
Staff within the CPD team have a growing scholarly, research and publication profile and are committed to building on previous achievements in learning, teaching and research. New appointees will be supported to develop in their new teaching role with access to a mentor and staff development courses.
The post holder may be required to contribute their expert knowledge by teaching across modules within the Three Counties School of Nursing and Midwifery. Service user and carer involvement in course development and delivery is an increasingly important aspect of our work, as is inter-professional and interagency working.
