The School of Sport, Rehabilitation and Exercise Sciences is seeking to appoint a practice educator to support and develop practice education opportunities for our three very successful pre-registration physiotherapy degrees.

The post holder will liaise with students, apprentices, academic, administrative and practice staff at all levels in a wide range of facilities including NHS Trusts, the university, care facilities, private practices, charities and schools. This collaboration with a range of stakeholders will develop and facilitate new practice education opportunities to support our programme aims of diversifying the practice-based learning opportunities available to our physiotherapy learners. Through the provision of coaching, education, advice and support to students, apprentices, practice educators and work-place mentors, the practice educator will ensure high-quality practice-based learning across our physiotherapy programmes.

The role will include participating in halfway placement visits, completing placement assessment documentation and providing long arm supervision. The post holder will also work on our apprenticeship programme, liaising with workplace mentors and apprentices to arrange and facilitate progress reviews that monitor and report on apprentices’ preparation for endpoint assessment, and complete the associated apprenticeship documentation. The post holder will have opportunities to assist in the teaching and assessment of students and will engage in scholarly activity as appropriate.

The successful applicant will possess a relevant Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate subject and/or professional experience and practice in the field of physiotherapy. You will also be registered as a physiotherapist with the Health and Care Professions Council and have Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy or the ability to gain professional recognition at this or a higher level if appropriate. A postgraduate level degree is preferred, however, not essential.

The successful candidate will be a HCPC registered physiotherapist who is keen to make steps into an academic role. We welcome candidates with a strong passion for student and practice led learning. You will be able to demonstrate a wide range of clinical experience within the UK healthcare context and have relevant and current experience of supporting students within clinical practice, higher education and/or practice settings. The role will require excellent communication and creative problem-solving skills.
