About the role

As a Lecturer in Midwifery, you will play a key role in teaching and assessing the Midwifery Pre-Registration Programmes, aligned with Future Midwife standards and approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). In collaboration with the programme leader and head of discipline, you will contribute to the development and delivery of an innovative and flexible curriculum. This will include creating a range of engaging learning materials across relevant subjects or modules, ensuring that the curriculum is both accessible and of high quality.

The role prioritises delivering an exceptional student experience in line with the University’s strategic objectives, embedding employability and real-world learning at the core of the curriculum. You will be committed to ensuring students are well-prepared for their professional careers.

Additionally, you will actively engage in research that informs and enhances cutting-edge practice, contributing to a research-led curriculum. You will also work to maintain subject expertise and support the University’s contribution to the Research Excellence Framework (REF). This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of midwifery education while influencing industry-leading research.

About You

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications, values, and expertise:

  • Registered as a Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
  • A Good Honours Degree in a relevant subject or an equivalent qualification.
  • Experience or knowledge of higher education, with the ability to use a range of delivery techniques to inspire and engage students.
  • Experience of teaching learners in various settings, ensuring flexibility and adaptability in different educational environments.
  • Significant experience in midwifery, enabling the development of new knowledge and understanding within the field.
