The Specialist Community Public Health Nursing Programmes (School Nursing and Health Visiting) are newly approved against the 2022 Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Standards of proficiency for SCPHN and post registration education programmes. The programmes are sited within the Centre for Public Health, a joint collaboration between the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences and the Faculty of Science and Technology. As a lecturer within the team you will be working with, and alongside, global and national leaders of public health research and education taking an applied approach to the practice of public health nursing.
As a School Nursing Specialist Community Public Health Nurse lecturer, you will be the Academic Assessor for the SCPHN School Nursing students. Working across the SCPHN programmes you will be responsible for unit leadership, curriculum development, specialist delivery and student assessment within a team of BU SCPHN nurse academics and Lecturer Practitioners. The Programme team also support and deliver co-designed Continuing Professional Development units in collaboration with our local practice learning partners and contribute to the Masters in Public Health programme.
You will have the opportunity to develop your academic and professional practice, education related to your area of specialist practice and your research interests.
You will be a Nursing and Midwifery Council Registered Nurse (level 1) or Midwife and a registered Specialist Community Public Health Nurse – School Nurse with a commitment to professional education and research. Post-graduate teaching and research qualifications are desirable. You will have, or be required to undertake, the Post Graduate Certificate in Education and an intention to undertake a higher research degree is desirable. You will be qualified to Doctoral level or be able to demonstrate the ability to create and disseminate knowledge at an equivalent level and the capability to convert this knowledge into a doctorate in a maximum of 3-5 years from date of appointment. You will be research active and committed to a culture of academic excellence and continuous improvement.
This position is available part-time for22.5 hours per week or 0.6 FTE.
