We are seeking a Head of Nursing to join the School of Healthcare at the University of Leicester. You will have a strong vision for the profession and how its standing can be enhanced through high quality research, education and citizenship, providing leadership for the nursing program. This will involve building the team of academic staff as the nursing program expands, creating a strong research culture and ensuring that the current high quality teaching culture is maintained.
In this key role you will build and maintain effective working relationships with Directors of Nursing and senior managers at all of our partnership trusts and placement providers in order to build our joint research and education portfolios. You will also develop, deliver and support international quality health services research in an area of your expertise in line with the school’s aspirations to become a leading centre for health services research.
You would be joining us at an exciting time. We have had some outstanding successes in the past year in terms of our research and league table performance. Our University is now placed consistently amongst the top 30 universities in the country. A rise of 11 places in the Complete University Guide means we are now ranked 29th in the league table of higher education institutions in the UK and in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2023, Leicester is ranked 163rd among the world’s universities and 22nd in the UK. We were also placed 35th in the Guardian University Guide.
Research England published the results of REF2021 and the results show that, since the previous REF in 2014, the University has moved up 23 places to rank 30th overall in the Times Higher Education REF rankings. This represents one of the biggest climbs of any university. This is our best ever performance in a research assessment exercise and an exceptional testament to the quality and impact of our academics’ research and the wider research environment.
