Sheffield Hallam is distinctive, we are a place where innovation is sparked by curiosity, and collaboration means working together to solve problems and challenge the status quo. An open-minded place, where everyone can thrive and belong. We have an ambitious strategy and we are committed to transforming lives through excellent teaching, compelling research, dynamic partnerships and civic impact. We design programmes and teach in ways which provide students with the experience, skills and knowledge they need to succeed; and we do so in an environment in which all can thrive – whatever their background or characteristics.
Sheffield Hallam University is one of the largest providers of Nursing and Midwifery education in the UK, providing education and training for all fields of nursing and midwifery. Our staff are passionate about making a positive impact on patient experience and service provision through providing quality education for the future Nursing and Midwifery workforce, working creatively and flexibly in a solution-focused way to meet the needs of health care providers. We play a prominent role in the local healthcare ecosystem, with our students and staff recognised for their work supporting a region we are proud to be part of.
We are an outstanding group of more than 100 colleagues, supporting over 2,000 students annually. We have a strong commitment to research that underpins equitable care, and increasing research capacity, capability, and impact in nursing, midwifery, allied health professions and social care. Our research is supported by strong local and regional partnerships and national collaborations and attracts diverse funding including significant major awards from NIHR and UKRI. The Department plays a pivotal role in the flagship Sheffield Hallam Health Transformation, a multi-disciplinary initiative which will see us achieve greater multi-disciplinary integration, increase the quality of our programmes, and innovate our curriculum and methods of delivery.
We are seeking an outstanding and strategic individual to lead the Department of Nursing and Midwifery and support the leadership of the College of Health Wellbeing and Life Sciences, working with the Dean and other Heads of Department. As the sector moves beyond the pandemic, we are seeking an energetic, effective and people-centred leader, with the vision and ability to harness the collective energy of the department and motivate colleagues and students. You will offer experience of leadership within a relevant setting and be excited by the prospect of growing the department, developing our relationships both externally and across the breadth of academic disciplines at Sheffield Hallam.
The successful candidate will bring intellectual standing and evidence of successful leadership of impact within a relevant setting. They will bring vision and commitment to furthering the development of the Department, fostering a positive culture in which our students and colleagues excel. In addition, we are seeking individuals who can demonstrate experience of building partnerships internally and externally and of collaborative working right across an institution.
