The Faculty of Health Sciences is seeking to appoint 2 external examiners for the above programmes, commencing in October 2021. We would like to appoint someone who has knowledge and expertise in relation to adult social care and someone with knowledge and expertise in relation to children’s social care. The external examiners would then work across both the BA and MA programmes, covering their specialist areas. The duties associated with the position are:
- Consideration and moderation of students’ assessments of theory and practice learning.
- Submission of an External Examiner’s Annual Report
- Membership and attendance at Boards of Examiners
- Collaboration with programme directors, module leaders and administrative colleagues to inform the continued monitoring, review and enhancement of these programmes.
The external examiner will have experience of teaching and examining at a Higher Education institution in the area of Social Work. They should have an excellent understanding of quality assurance matters, including the QAA Quality Benchmarks, alongside Social Work England registration. Prior experience of being an External Examiner is desirable.
Appointments last for 4 years in duration (October 2021 – September 2025).
