Plymouth Marjon University* is seeking to appoint an External Examiner for the cognate group of modules associated with the following provision:
- MPsy Master of Psychotherapy and Counselling (Integrated Master’s)
- BSc Psychotherapy and Counselling (teaching out of part time provision up to and including 2024/25, revalidated as BSc Counselling for the Helping Professions from 2022/23)
- BSc Counselling for the Helping Professions (closed to new entrants from Sept 2024)
As well as having experience in academia, applicants will ideally be registered counsellors.
This appointment will commence with effect from 1st September 2024 and will end on 31st December 2028.

About the role
The External Examiner will engage with the provision virtually and, where appropriate, in person. The External Examiner will be required to submit both an interim (brief) and standard report on an annual basis. A fee is payable in line with sector norms, along with reasonable expenses.
Recent External Examiner experience is desirable, although the University will provide a mentor for first-time External Examiners. In addition, all new External Examiners will be invited to an annual induction event (online).

The University regrets that nominations from current or recently retired colleagues from the following institutions are not eligible to be considered at the present time: University College London and the University of Chester.
