The Department of Nursing and Community Health is seeking to appoint External Examiners for the following programmes:
BSc/BSc (Hons) Nursing Studies, MSc Nursing Studies (Pre-Registration) – Adult field – 2 posts
BSc/BSc (Hons) Nursing Studies (Child) / Nursing Studies (Learning Disability / Child – Dual Registration) – 1 post
BSc/BSc (Hons) Nursing Studies (Learning Disabilities) / Nursing Studies (Learning Disability / Child – Dual Registration) – 1 post
This is a large pre-registration nursing programme that offers three pathways. All three pathways require full-time study and, on successful completion, each lead to professional registration on Sub-Part 1 of the Nursing and Midwifery Council register as a nurse in the fields of either Adult, Child, Learning Disabilities or Mental Health. We also offer a Dual registration programme in Learning Disability & Child Nursing; however, this is in its final year.
The programmes currently adhere to the following NMC education standards – BSc/BSc (Hons) Year 1 & 2 – 2018 NMC Standards; BSc/BSc (Hons) Year 3 & 4 – 2014 NMC Standards. The MSc pre-reg programme is 28 months in duration and adheres to the NMC 2018 Standards.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified academic staff that will have experience of managing and assessing students on similar programmes. Experience of external examining would be an advantage, but is not essential. As an External Examiner you will be responsible for the external moderation of a range of modules from all nursing fields and will be invited to review a selection of scripts and comment on assessment content. You would be expected to attend two Assessment Boards and submit a written report each year.
The period of tenure is for four years and will commence in September 2022.
All External Examiner appointments are subject to approval by the University. The University offers support for newly appointed external assessors.
