Title: Post Graduate Certificate in Leading Interprofessional Practice Education programme.
The University of Derby, College of Health, Psychology and Social Care is seeking to appoint an external examiner who holds a minimum of Senior Fellowship of AdvanceHE, is Professionally Registered within the Health and Social Care sector and ideally has experience of the apprenticeship arena. The successful external examiner will provide professional scrutiny and oversight of the level 7, Post Graduate Certificate in Leading Interprofessional Practice Education programme. This programme is delivered online and comprises of three professional routes: an apprenticeship, non-apprenticeship and a certificate of credit.
The programme runs full time over one academic year or part time over two years. It adopts an online approach to learning where students work through prepared materials and activities, that facilitate the application of theoretical learning into the workplace. There are live online touch points for the learners. The programme has a strong track record of developing practice educators across the multiagency Health and Social Care setting and novice academics within the HEI. It facilitates the key drivers of educating the future workforce, assessing competency, and achieving professional standards within the workplace by meeting the AdvanceHE standards.

Whilst external examiner experience is desirable, we welcome expressions of interest from individuals new to this role. The successful candidate will be offered an induction programme and will be supported throughout the duration of their tenure.
You will be asked to attend online approximately 2 academic boards per year. You would also be invited to meet the students online and hear their voices to gather feedback.
The term of office for the successful candidate will be for a period of 5 years from September 2025. The approximate Fee would be £400 per annum following the receipt of the External Examiner annual report.
Please note that all External Examiner appointments are subject to approval by the University’s External Examiner Committee, and it is usual that the university will not accept colleagues who have recently left the university to work elsewhere or have been externals for the university in the past.
