The Department of Nursing and Community Health at Glasgow Caledonian University is seeking 1 replacement external examiner for the next academic year 2021/22 and would welcome expressions of interest from senior academics committed to developing quality teaching, learning and assessment. We are particularly interested in receiving applications from those who have expertise in the following areas:
- The Theory and Practice of Musculoskeletal Casting and Splinting
Applications are invited from suitably qualified academic staff who have experience of managing and assessing students on similar programmes. Experience of external examining would be an advantage, but is not essential. The Theory and Practice of Musculoskeletal Casting and Splinting is offered at SHE Level 2 / SCQF Level 8 and SHE Level 3 / SCQF Level 9.
The role of the External Examiner is to assure the quality of awards with respect to national standards. Key duties include:
- To review a range of coursework throughout the year
- To attend at least one assessment board per year and submit an annual external examiner report
- Participation in programme reapproval events
The university offers support for newly appointed external assessors by offering a programme of induction and via the programme lead. Tenure of appointments is for a period of four years. All External Examiner appointments are subject to approval by the University.
To express an interest, please send a copy of your curriculum vitae (including NMC PIN and revalidation date, where applicable) and a covering letter to the email address below:
