The School of Nursing and Health Sciences at the University of Sunderland is seeking to appoint an External Examiner to our MSc in Nursing and MSc in Nursing Studies programmes to ensure appropriate quality standards are achieved. This is an exciting time to undertake the role, the MSc Nursing h has 2 intakes a year and has been running for a number of years. The MSc Nursing Studies is a fully asynchronous programme, is in its first year of delivery. Both programmes and both are experiencing increasing student numbers of international and home students. With a focus on developing research skills, supported by leadership, education, social determinates of health/global health and exploring contemporary issues in nursing practice the programmes aim to support nurses in their continuing professional development as knowledgeable doers.
The programmes are delivered on a one year full time basis, as well as a part time mode. The MSc Nursing Studies is moving to full time provision from 22/23
The ideal candidate will ideally be an experienced external examiner but those seeking a first position and have clinical and educational experience relevant to advanced practice would be considered. All applicants must be at senior lecturer and above. The external examiner will be expected to monitor the quality of coursework, externally moderate assessed work and complete an annual monitoring report. They are also required to provide comments on any proposed modifications and the development of new modules within their area of expertise, as well as identify areas of good practice.
Full course details and documentation will be provided to the appointee with an induction on appointment.
