The School of Nursing and Health Sciences at the University of Sunderland is seeking to appoint an External Examiner to the M.Ed. (Health Professions) programme to ensure appropriate quality standards are achieved. Applicants for the role will should hold current registration with the NMC or HCPC and hold at least Fellowship status with Advance HE (FHEA).

This course initially aims to prepare staff new to healthcare education through exploring teaching and learning strategies, curriculum design, and assessment within a healthcare context. Modules delivered in year 2 also explore student success and attainment, programme approval, and PSRB monitoring.

The ideal candidate will ideally be an experienced external examiner but those seeking a first position who have extensive educational experience relevant to healthcare education would be considered. All applicants must be at senior lecturer and above.

The external examiner will be expected to monitor the quality of coursework, externally moderate assessed work and complete an annual monitoring report. They are also required to provide comments on any proposed modifications and the development of new modules within their area of expertise, as well as identify areas of good practice.
