The Centre for Applied Clinical, Health and Care Research within the School of Health and Social Work is seeking to appoint an External Examiner for our newly validated Master of Research (MRes) in Health and Social Care programme.
The External Examiner plays a crucial role in maintaining the academic standards and quality assurance of our programme, ensuring they are comparable with those of other UK higher education institutions. Key responsibilities include:
- Confirm that the standards set for our awards are appropriate and aligned with the UK Quality Code for Higher Education.
- Monitor that assessment and classification processes are reliable, fair, and transparent.
- Offer independent and informative comments on student achievement and assessment practices.
- Assist the University by identifying good practices and areas for enhancement in our teaching and assessment methods.
Candidate requirements:
- Qualifications: Applicants should have a strong academic and research background in Health and Social Care.
- Experience: While prior experience as an External Examiner is desirable, it is not essential.
- Expertise: Proficiency in Health and Social Care research methodologies and a thorough understanding of quality assurance processes in higher education.
Appointment Details:
- Start date: January 2025
- Term: four years
- Approval: Appointment is subject to meeting the University’s criteria and approval by Academic Quality.
