The Department of Nursing, Midwifery & Health is seeking to appoint an External Examiner for BSc (Hons) Nursing Science (Adult) Degree Apprenticeship and External Assessor for BSc (Hons) Nursing Science (Child) Apprenticeship Standard ST0781 Registered Nurse Degree NMC 2018. The post holder will be the Lead Examiner for the Child programme and will moderate the following modules:
DA5063 Nursing Skills 4, Enhancing Clinical Skills for Complex Care
DA6051 Practice Module 3, Leadership, Quality and Teamwork in Adult Nursing
DA6054 Nursing Practice 6, Advancing Nursing Skills

The appointment will be for 4 academic years from 1 August 2024.
As external examiner you will be responsible for contributing to the quality assurance of the programme. You will be involved in approving assessment tasks, moderating student work, completion of an annual report and may be invited to attend examination boards. You may be asked to provide comments on proposed modifications and the development of new modules.
Applicants should hold appropriate professional registration and academic qualifications. It is preferable to have previous experience as external examiner/assessor although support and guidance can be provided for those new to the role. Full course details and documentation will be provided on appointment.
As External Assessor you will operate in line with current External Quality Assurance of Apprenticeship End-Point Assessment for Integrated Higher and Degree Apprenticeships guidance (https://www.officeforstudents.org.uk/publications/external-quality-assurance-of-apprenticeship-end-point-assessment-for-integrated-higher-and-degree-apprenticeships/). You will be involved in: reviewing EPA documentation; reviewing a sample of EPA assessed work, including observing live assessments; observing assessor standardisation/moderation meetings and exam boards where the EPA final decision is confirmed; meeting independent assessors, other EPAO staff, apprentices and possibly employers.
