The School of Health Sciences is looking to recruit a new External Examiner for the 2025/6 academic year to support the two modules within the Family Interventions for Adults programme. The School of Health Sciences at the University of Surrey is a vibrant and innovative school, offering a broad range of educational programmes in healthcare, this clinically focussed programme is run in partnership with Sussex Partnership NHS trust.

External examiners are required to review and evaluate assessment marking; be a member of the Board of Examiners and attend 1-2 meetings per year, (these are likely to remain virtually online for the foreseeable future); comment and give advice on programme content, balance and structure; and to complete an annual report as part of the University of Surreys quality assurance mechanisms. The University requires external examiners to attend a minimum of one Board of Examiners meeting per year.

Experience of external examining would be an advantage but is not essential, as for this programme we are particularly looking for specialist clinical expertise. To meet the requirements of the AFT accreditation for this programme we require an EE who is a fully qualified Family and Systemic Psychotherapist.

All appointments are subject to meeting the University’s criteria for the appointment of external examiners. The successful applicant would be appointed with effect from Sept 2025 for a term of four academic years.

Interested applicants are required to apply by submission of Curriculum Vitae and covering email to: m.stobbart@surrey.ac.uk
