The Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Hull wishes to appoint an External Examiner/ External Assessor for our MSc and Degree Apprenticeship Advanced Clinical Practice Programme and Associated Modules.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced academics who have experience within Advanced Clinical Practice higher education and have some degree apprenticeship knowledge and experience. Previous experience as an External Examiner is not essential, training and support will be given. Applicants should hold a current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council or Health and Care Professions Council. External examiners appointments are typically for a period of four years and the appointment will commence in January 2025.

Suitable Candidates will:

  • Be employed in Higher Education
  • Have knowledge and experience in delivering Advanced Clinical Practice education
  • Have knowledge and experience in delivering apprenticeship programmes
  • Have experience in designing, delivering and assessing at level 7.
  • Have the right to work within the UK.

The duties of the position are as follows:

  • Consideration and moderation of students’ assessments of theory and practice learning.
  • Submission of module reports and Annual Reports
  • Membership and attendance at Module, Programme and End Point Assessment boards
  • Review, recommend and approve changes to the programme
  • Scrutinize and approve assessments, recommending changes where appropriate

Collaboration with programme directors, module leaders and administrative colleagues to inform the continued monitoring, review and enhancement of these programmes.
