The University of Sunderland wishes to appoint an External Examiner to support Level 5 & 6 modules within the BSc (Hons) Children and Young Peoples Nursing Practice, commencing May 2025. The programme works in partnership with Mental Health, Adult and, Learning Disability nursing programmes and is an exciting opportunity for an External Examiner to join a well-established suite of programmes and support the development of the children’s nursing programme.
The University of Sunderland offers extensive support for External Examiners and holds briefing workshops annually. Further support is also provided by the Associate Head of School, Programme and Module Leaders and Programme Administrators.
The University normally expects external examiners to attend a minimum of one examination board per year via Teams, review a sample of all assessed work (level 5 & 6) and to complete an annual External Examiner Monitoring Report via an electronic platform.
- Applicants are advised that the University applies the following criteria to external examiners:
- The area of expertise of External Examiners is within the area of assessment undertaken
- Applicants should have recently been employed (or are still employed) within a university appointment
- Applicants must not have been a University of Sunderland examiner or employee within the last five years
- Applicants will have a children’s nursing qualification, registered with the NMC and a commitment to inter-professional education.
