The Division of Advanced Clinical Practice and Non-Medical Prescribing at London South Bank University is seeking to appoint an external examiner for:
MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice (adult) course and our Non-Medical Prescribing module from October 2024. The ACP programme is accredited (along with our ACP (Child) and ACP (mental health course)) by Health Education England’s Centre for Advancing Practice. The non-medical prescribing qualification is a registrable qualification with the NMC, HCPC, and GPhC.
The Institute of Health and Social Care, comprising the School of Nursing and Midwifery and the School of Allied and Community Health, at London South Bank University has a long-standing reputation for excellence in the education, research and practice development of a variety of health and social care specialists.
The University operates a single tier examination board system, with external examiners being appointed to an Exam board to oversee module results and student progression. The Examination Board meets virtually three times a year, and there is an expectation that the external examiner will attend at least one Examination Board during the year and submit an annual report to the University.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified academic staff who hold a minimum of a Master’s degree. The ideal academic candidate for this post will have previous experience as an External Examiner in advanced practice and non-medical prescribing (although support will be provided to exceptional candidates without this prior experience) and should be currently active in educational delivery and research within the field of advanced practice.
We would ideally prefer one external examiner to cover the MSc ACP (Adult) course and the non-medical prescribing module.
All appointments are subject to the candidate meeting the University’s criteria for appointment (UK Quality Code for HE; Chapter 7 External Examining; Indicator 5).
