The School of Dental, Health and Care Professions at the University of Portsmouth are seeking to appoint suitably qualified External Advisors for course validation and an NMC major modification approval event. There are four pre-registration nursing programmes on the agenda that will complement our existing programmes: BN (Hons) Nursing and MN Nursing Degree Apprenticeships, both in the adult and mental health fields. We require an advisor for each field of nursing for these awards.
The role involves:
- Acting as a subject expert on the validation and approval panel
- Receiving and providing written feedback on the programme documentation
- Attending an online event on 13th February 2025 to discuss the programme with the programme team, NMC QA Visitor, students, employers and a range of external stakeholders
- Contributing to the panel’s decision regarding approval of the programme.
Applicants should:
- Hold a UK professional registration with the NMC
- have experience in degree apprenticeships and assessment of the areas covered by the programmes;
- hold relevant academic professional qualifications and experience to at least the FHEQ level of the qualification being externally examined, to advise on the programme content and delivery;
- not have any close association with the programmes/School/Faculty of Science and Health within the last 5 years;
- be conversant with Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) standards for education
