The Curriculum Development Coordinator (Social Behavioural and Population Science) will play a critical role in establishing and refining the curriculum for the undergraduate medical programme, which adopts the Leicester Medical School’s curriculum framework and relevant postgraduate programmes. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing curriculum components related to social behavioural and population science, with a specific focus on Public Health, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) and mental health. This role is pivotal in ensuring that the undergraduate programme is ready to welcome its first cohort of students in September 2025.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Curriculum Development:
1. Lead the development and integration of social behavioural and population science components into the undergraduate medical programme.
2. Lead the development and integration of social behavioural and population science components into across postgraduate programmes.
3. Collaborate with academic and administrative staff to ensure that the social behavioural and population science curriculum aligns with the Leicester Medical School’s standards and objectives.
4. Ensure that curriculum content reflects current and emerging trends in social behavioural science, population health, and public health policy.
Coordination of Lectures and Educational Content:
5. Work with faculty members to coordinate and schedule lectures, seminars, and other educational activities.
6. Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of guest lecturers and subject matter experts to enhance the programme’s delivery.
7. Provide guidance and support to lecturers in the development of teaching materials and assessments.
EDI and Mental Health Integration:
8. Develop and integrate curriculum content that addresses Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) within the medical programme.
9. Design modules and resources that promote mental health awareness and competency among medical students.
10. Collaborate with relevant departments to ensure that EDI and mental health topics are embedded throughout the curriculum.
11. Contribute to the development of the widening participation strategy
Quality Assurance and Evaluation:
12. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of curriculum components, making adjustments as necessary to meet educational objectives.
13. Develop and implement feedback mechanisms to gather input from students, faculty, and stakeholders.
14. Prepare reports on curriculum development progress and outcomes for the programme’s leadership team.
15. Ensure that all curriculum documentation is maintained, updated, and compliant with institutional policies.
Community and Outreach:
16. Represent the medical programme at relevant conferences, workshops, and meetings.
17. Engage with the broader academic and medical community through outreach activities.
18. Promote the medical school and its programmes to prospective students and other stakeholders.
19. Represent the programme at recruitment events, open days, and other outreach activities.
