Pro Vice-Chancellor for Education
The Role
This role sits within the Directorate for Academic Services under the leadership of the Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor.
The role leads on the educational aspects of the University Strategy. The Pro Vice-Chancellor (PVC) for Education will work alongside the Provost and the other thematic PVCs (Knowledge Exchange and Research) to implement our strategic objectives, facilitating a diversified academic portfolio, increasingly successful student outcomes and continued improvements in teaching practice.
The role provides leadership and strategic focus for the education agenda across the University and externally. It is the senior leadership team’s primary expert advisor on educational quality and standards and academic development matters, providing information, insights and analysis to inform decision making at that level.
The PVC for Education will work with Academic Registry, Quality Assurance & Enhancement and Learning & Teaching Enhancement to ensure the efficient and effective operation of our educational activity, including programme development, delivery, and enhancement, and the management of student and programme records. This role is also responsible for promoting improvements in pedagogical practice across our educational portfolio. The PVC for Education will support the Provost in the development of submission of institutional returns, including the Teaching Excellence Framework.
The Person
Kingston University is seeking to appoint an innovative leader in Education as its new PVC Education. Working closely within a team of three thematic PVCs, this person will be part of a senior leadership team within the Directorate of Academic Services, and will be responsible for supporting the Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor in developing our education purpose and practices. We are seeking someone who shares our values, who is enthusiastic about contributing to the implementation of our university strategy, and who is ready to be innovative and imaginative in devising and leading new pedagogies, practices and portfolios.
The successful candidate will be someone who is able to build strong relationships within the university, supporting networks across our faculties and disciplines. They will work collegiately with others to maintain effective delivery and management of educational programmes, as well as an innovative and creative approach to creating new approaches and areas of activity. They will be an externally facing advocate for staff and students, ensuring our educational mission has deep connections with our stakeholders and employers.
