We currently have an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Lecturer/Programme Leader in Optometry in our School of Health and Social Wellbeing, College of Health, Science and Society. This is an exciting time to join our team, given the new General Optical Council (GOC) Educational Training Requirements and the subsequent development of our new MSci Optometry programme.

You will be joining our School of Health and Social Wellbeing, in the College of Health, Science and Society, which is a large, diverse and dynamic part of the University. The College brings together experts from Allied Health Professions, Biological, Applied Sciences, Health and Social Sciences, Nursing and Midwifery, and Education.

About you:

It is anticipated that you will have a high level of insight into contemporary optometry practice and will have experience of teaching and assessment in higher, further or continuing education, and in clinical practice. Knowledge of the contemporary theories and concepts that underpin optometry practice and education is essential. You must be registered and practicing as an Optometrist on the GOC Professional Register, either have achieved, are working towards or are willing to undertake a Master’s degree in a health/education related subject, and possess strong evidence of continuing professional development related to your current role. Additionally, you will hold a recognised teacher’s qualification or be willing to work towards one.

Where is this role based?

This post is based at our Glenside Campus which is set within beautiful grounds in Stapleton, just three miles north east of Bristol City Centre. Regular bus services link the campus to the main Frenchay site, the city centre and surrounding areas, and nearby Bristol Parkway train station.
