Are you an Occupational Therapist looking to start a teaching career in higher education? Perhaps you’re an established lecturer and would like to join a supportive team to help shape our growing Occupational Therapy offering and develop your own academic career in the process… If so, we would like to hear from you.

We are looking for Lecturers in Occupational Therapy to join us at our beautiful Glenside Campus in Bristol to teach, support and assess students undertaking their degree and masters qualifications. Due to a large expansion of our occupational therapy programmes, we are continuing to advertise for more people to join us.

You will be joining our School of Health and Social Wellbeing, where we provide a full time HCPC validated/RCOT accredited BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy programme, a new BSc (Hons) Applied Occupational Therapy Apprenticeship programme and a range of related postgraduate and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programmes, including a MSc in Rehabilitation. As well as the above BSc (Hons) courses, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute, where appropriate to other programmes across the School of Health and Social Wellbeing and to our extensive CPD offering.

About you: You will need to demonstrate a range of experience within either the physical or psycho-social aspects of Occupational Therapy. A strong understanding of assessment and management strategies, clinical reasoning, application to practice and contemporary healthcare is essential. An ability to demonstrate previous university and/or practice based educational experience is also required. The Occupational Therapy programmes have a strong foundation in Occupational Science and all team members are encouraged to develop their own and their students’ understanding on the basis of these theories.

If you are new to teaching but can demonstrate the required experience, we can support you and would like to hear from you. We are able to provide support through our PGCAPP postgraduate teaching programme and will provide you with the necessary support to develop your teaching skills. Please keep this in mind when reading the full job description attached to this advert. Additionally, if you would like to continue practicing Occupational Therapy, we are able to consider a slight reduction in the contractual hours of this post.

Other responsibilities of this post will include teaching and assessing, module leadership, an academic and personal tutor role, research support for undergraduate students, practice placement supervision, and being part of the Occupational Therapy team in curriculum development and quality monitoring. Input to the B.Sc. (Hons) Occupational Therapy, BSc (Hons) Applied Occupational Therapy and CPD modules will be expected.

You will need to be registered with the HCPC as an Occupational Therapist.
