Are you an experienced Social Work Practitioner and/or Social Work Academic looking to join our dedicated team at The University of Cumbria?

The University of Cumbria has been successfully educating Social Work students since 2007. This is a great opportunity to join our hardworking and dedicated team in supporting a wide variety and diverse student group to achieve their ambition of becoming qualified social workers who upon qualification would be eligible to register with the regulator, Social Work England.

You will have experience and knowledge working within the Social Work field and will be able to transfer and apply this experience to educate, support and develop students with the required value, knowledge and skills to meet the requirements of a professional Social Worker, as outlined within the professional capability framework and professional standards of Social Work England. You will need to be able to work as part of a team, develop teaching and learning resources to apply within allocated modules and be able to support students on a one to one basis as a personal tutor and whilst students are on placement. You will also have a range of knowledge and be able to explain how it relates to practice. Applicants would require an understanding and breadth of knowledge relating social policy, social theory, legislation, procedures and communication theory. Applicants would also be required to assist and support students in developing a professional identity, a sound value base for practice and practice skills relating to person centered practice, assessment and interventions. We would welcome applications from experienced practitioners as well as social work qualified academics. Support would be offered in developing your skills in translating practice experience to an education setting.
