We are seeking to appoint five new positions, either Associate Professor or Professor, in an exciting expansion of the School that will grow our portfolio for research and enterprise, enhance our research-led education and extend our international reach. We will consider applications from candidates wishing to work part-time and clinical academic appointments.

Interviews will be held on the 28th Feb and 1 March 2024.

As a successful candidate at both Associate and Full Professor levels, you will bring a portfolio of internationally excellent and impactful research and enterprise in a field aligned to one or more of the School’s research groups in Active Living for Health, Health Workforce and Systems, Child and Adolescent Health, Psychosocial Research in Cancer, Ageing and Dementia, Long Term Conditions, Medicine Management, Bladder and Bowel Management, or Skin Sensing. You will have strong leadership, interpersonal and education skills and will champion an inclusive working environment. You will also have the experience needed to support the development of early-career researchers and PhD students, collaborating with others across the wider Faculty of Environmental and Life Sciences, University and beyond. You will contribute to building capacity, delivering our education programmes, and have a commitment to enabling students to reach their full potential. You will make a contribution to the management and academic leadership of the School, supporting the School strategy in alignment with the University’s Triple Helix strategy.

Additional and essential criteria for the status of Full Professor include: i) an international reputation in the field, evidenced by a significant track record of world leading publications; ii) an established research programme, evidenced by significant grant income and potential for further growth; iii) a track record of impactful knowledge exchange and enterprise with external stakeholders.

Our School of Health Sciences is a globally renowned centre for education, research, knowledge exchange and enterprise. We tackle some of the biggest healthcare issues facing the world with an outstanding reputation for the impact of our work. We are a member of the prestigious Russell Group of research-intensive universities and were ranked in the top 3 UK universities for the overall quality of our research in our Unit of Assessment, and 1st for our research environment in REF21. We were ranked 6th in the world for nursing (including midwifery) in the most recent QS World University Rankings by Subject. Our success is built on our excellent multidisciplinary staff and strong partnerships. We host the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration Wessex and work closely with the region’s major healthcare providers, third sector and commercial organisations both nationally and internationally.

We have close alliances across the university including with the Schools of Psychology, Biological Sciences, Geography and Environmental Sciences, Engineering, the Institute for Life Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Electronic and Computer Sciences and Digital Interventions Group. Our educational programmes include Nursing, Midwifery, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Podiatry and Cardiac Physiology. We also have a suite of postgraduate taught and research (PhD) programmes that include; Advanced Clinical Practice, Leadership and Management and Clinical Research. Our programmes have been ranked among the top in the UK.
