The School of Nursing and Advanced Practice at Liverpool John Moores University wishes to appoint an External Examiner for our MA Mental Health. This is an innovative programme where the focus is on integration of learners from multiple sectors of practice and society in considering the sociocultural aspects of mental health illness. This Master’s programme aims to facilitate a wide-ranging approach to change in mental health.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced lecturers. All appointments are subject to the candidate meeting the University’s criteria for appointment.

The appointment will normally be for a period of 4 years. Applicants should have relevant experience in the mental health environment and preferably an appropriate NMC registration.

Suitable candidates will:

  • Be employed in Higher Education
  • Have a Master’s degree
  • Have experience in designing, delivering and assessing Level 7 provision.
  • Usually have previous External Examiner experience.
  • Have experience in the mental health environment and relevant qualifications
  • Be resident and have the right to work in the UK.

Duties will include:

  • Moderating samples of essay scripts and other assessed materials, advising the programme teams on the content and standard of assessments
  • Completion of module reports and a yearly programme report.
  • Liaising with other external examiners at LJMU.
  • Attendance at the Board of Examiners as required.
