Salary: Lecturer – UH7 £35,333 to £42,155 pa depending on skills and experience; Senior Lecturer – UH8 £42,155 to £53,353 pa depending on skills and experience

This is an exciting opportunity to join the School as a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer within the Practice Learning Team. The role requires a committed and student-focused individual who is keen to play a key role in the innovation, expansion and support of nursing placements.

Main duties & responsibilities

You will identify and secure new placement opportunities for students on the pre-registration nursing programmes. It will be expected that you will contribute to the development, delivery and evaluation of high quality, evidence informed learning and teaching activity in relation to nursing practice, adopt a pedagogical and inclusive approach to learning and teaching in relation to nursing practice that supports successful outcomes for all learners and work with the Practice Placement Lead and other academic team members and professional staff to create innovative simulated and virtual placement opportunities across all fields of nursing.

You will, collaborate with practice partners and academic staff to ensure that quality assurance requirements related to practice placement experience including those specified by the professional body (NMC) are understood and fulfilled across all variations of placement provision and provide staff training and updates to new and existing partners in line with the Nursing and Midwifery Council’s standards and requirements for Standards for Student Supervision and Assessment (NMC 2018). In this role you will also, contribute to the on-going development of close working relationships that the School of Health and Social Work has established with local National Health Service (NHS) trusts, private, independent and voluntary sector service provider agencies.

For the role of Senior Lecturer you will also be expected to undertake roles with increased responsibility such as practice module leadership, and creating and leading innovations in practice, take a lead role in the development of virtual placements and work with academics and clinical colleagues in the design and delivery of virtual and simulated placements and lead the delivery of the Standards for Student Supervision and Assessment (NMC 2018).

Skills and experience needed

You must have experience in supporting student nurse learning in either a practice or classroom setting and experience in using digital platforms, for example websites, databases etc. In addition to this you will have a sustained interest and knowledge of contemporary nursing and healthcare practice, the ability to work to deadlines, and set and monitor own standards and have evidence of teamworking as well as working autonomously. For either role you will also be expected to be proficient in English Language, verbal and written and have excellent interpersonal skills. You will also be working flexibly and responsively with a range of academic & other professionals and committed to engage in scholarly & research activity, for personal and professional development.

The Senior Lecturer position will also require you to have proven experience of working with a range of practice partners and knowledge of quality assurance for nursing placements. For this role, a record of publications and or conference papers/posters would be advantageous.
