Canterbury Christ Church University is modern and dynamic. It aims to transform lives through outstanding higher education and to enrich the communities it serves. With some 15,000 students across two major campuses, staff champion the University’s commitment to diversity and value the warm, friendly working environment. Development and support of staff is a priority.

The University now seeks a new Head of the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work. This is an exciting time to join the University given the recent opening of its £65m building in Canterbury, offering state of the art simulation suites to support health students. The School sits within the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Social Care, has 114 staff and engages around 2,330 students annually across the following subject areas: Social Work, Midwifery, Mental Health & Learning Disability Nursing, Child Nursing and Adult Nursing.

The University welcomes applications from experienced academic managers in Social Work, Midwifery or Nursing, who are enthused by the University’s values and are ready to champion diversity. You will be outward looking, imaginative, innovative and with a track record of getting things done. You will deeply value the friendliness of the University and dedication of its staff, while ambitiously looking to enhance student experience, research and enterprise, strategically enable portfolio development, and facilitate continuous improvement.

You will be an experienced academic in your own right with potentially a significant professional background too. You will certainly be no stranger to the complexities of contemporary health and care environments and higher education.

We encourage applications from people of minority ethnic origin, all faiths and none, and people with disabilities. We offer a supportive working environment, friendly colleagues, a competitive remuneration package, commitment to flexible working opportunities and a relocation package where required.
