The Head of School Excellence in the School of Nursing, AHPs and Midwifery at University Hospitals Birmingham NHSFT, is responsible for supporting the Head of School and Deputy Head of School with the strategic and operational management of the School’s quality agenda across its education portfolio and in ensuring the School’s governance and compliance priorities are achieved, with responsibility for developing long-term strategies to transform School education delivery through a focus on continuous enhancement and innovation, and working collaboratively with the Head of Corporate Education and Quality.

The post holder will have responsibility within the School for the collation and analysis of intelligence related to overseeing quality assurance functions such as accreditation, course approval, and quality enhancement across the School against education and training pathways in line with national standards and priorities set by NHS England Workforce Training and Education (NHSE WTE), Integrated Care System (ICS), Higher Education Institutions (HEI) and individual Professional, Statutory and Regulatory Bodies (PSRBs) such as the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), Heath and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and other regulatory, audit and inspection bodies.

The post-holder will ensure processes include a rigorous cycle of feedback from students and staff to constantly improve the learner experience within the School. The continuous improvement of the learner experience is central to the development of the School education portfolio to ensure delivery of sector-leading, integrated and coherent education which is responsive, learner focused and supports the School community in a creative, enabling way. This involves liaison and coordination with multiple stakeholders, informing an evaluation of the School education portfolio that is shared and communicated to the School and wider Trust via regular reports.

As the Head of School Excellence, the post holder will provide authoritative expert advice and guidance to the senior School team on matters relating to quality, standards, education enhancement and the development and management of local and regional education partnerships. The role operates across all Trust sites and will be expected to travel to different locations where their role requires them to do so.
