The University of Manchester is seeking to appoint a subject external examiner for a range of cancer care units aimed at nurses and other allied health care professionals. Many of the students will be undertaking these units as part of our MSc Specialist Practice (Cancer) programme. Units can also be studied independently as part of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) at levels 6 and 7 and as part of the MSc ALPP (MSc Advanced Leadership for Professional Practice) programme.
Many of the units you will be externally examining have been developed with – and are led by – colleagues from the Christie School of Oncology. Effective Strategies for Advanced Communication (NURS60092)
Acute Oncology (to be confirmed)
The majority of coursework is submitted electronically by students and marked online. External examiners will be required to use the online moderating process. User guides and support will be available.
University appointments for external examiners are normally for a period of four years.
Person Specification:
Essential:
- Working in a UK HEI with no formal educational links with the University of Manchester in the last 5 years
- Current registration with the NMC
- Master’s Degree or above in a related area
- Direct experience in teaching and assessing for the above subject areas
Desirable
- Research and publications in related areas
Appointments will be made in line with the University of Manchester’s Guidance for External Examiners.
