The Department of Nursing and Midwifery is seeking to appoint an External Examiner for the Non-Medical Prescribing module, which is available as a stand-alone CPD option or as
part of a mandatory suite of modules towards MSc Advanced Nurse Practitioner/Advanced Professional Practice at the University of the Highlands and Islands.The role of the External Examiner is to provide assurance on:

a. whether academic standards are set and maintained at appropriate levels

b. whether the assessment process is appropriate, rigorous, equitable, effective and conducted in line with policies, regulations and guidance

c. whether the standard of student performance is properly judged against the level set, and

d. the comparability of the standard and level of student achievement with those in other higher education institutions.

This post will be effective from 1st September 2023 and the term of office would normally be four years.

Applicants should hold appropriate academic and Professional qualifications (NMC or HCPC registrant with a prescribing qualification) experience of pre and post-registration nurse education, and have experience of programme delivery. Previous experience of the role of an External Examiner is desirable but not essential.

All External Examiner appointments are subject to approval by the University’s Joint Faculty Executive Committee.
