External Examiner – Masters in Public Health (Online)

The Faculty of Health Sciences and Sport are seeking to appoint an External Examiner for the MPH (Online) programme. The appointment is a 4-year tenure commencing 1st May 2022 and ending 30th November 2026.

The programme is currently three years part-time and is suitable for people either already involved in public health research, policy and practice, or who are planning a career in those areas. The course equips students with insights into modern public health theory and methods and teaches them how to apply them to their work.

As an External Examiner you are required to:

  • Monitor the quality of the programme
  • Externally moderate assessed work
  • Attend three Awards Board per year
  • Complete an annual report
  • Comment on proposed modifications and the development of new modules

Applicants should have a Masters in Public Health and/or professional qualifications to at least the level of an MPH, and/or extensive practitioner experience. They should be familiar with the standard to be expected of students to achieve an MPH and have an awareness of current developments in the design and delivery of relevant curricula. It would be desirable to have previous experience as an External Examiner, but this is not essential. All External Examiner appointments are subject to approval by the University’s Academic Council.
