The Student Leadership Programme aims to promote and develop leadership skills among the future nursing, midwifery and AHP workforce by working with first and second year pre-registration students. Using information from a student survey, the programme continues to be co-designed with students to ensure it focuses on areas not covered in current pre-registration curricula.
The Programme includes:
- conferences and events with tailored workshops, lectures and seminars led by individuals in a leadership position
- a coaching scheme with access to individuals who are visionary leaders, thinkers, creators and front runners in their own respective disciplines (within the health and care sector)
- an online community of practice where students can interact and debate relevant topics and issues as sharing and learning from each other is strongly encouraged.

The Student Leadership Programme is run by the Council of Deans of Health, and is supported by the Burdett Trust for Nursing. Some of our allied health professions students are supported by Health Education England.
The Student Leadership Programme is currently in its fifth year, and we expect to open applications for our sixth year in Spring 2022.
